Challenge

RLI faced significant challenges managing its multiple subsidiary sites, each with distinct brands and identities but operated independently. This led to issues with maintenance, support, disparate hosting vendors, varied logins, and general accessibility. Updates across these diverse systems were cumbersome and inefficient.

Action

To streamline operations and enhance user experience, I spearheaded the development of a unified marketing network:

  • WordPress Multisite Network: Implemented a WordPress multisite network that allowed a single theme to support multiple sites, simplifying management and ensuring brand consistency.
  • Development Operations Model: Established a robust development operations model to manage security and regular updates efficiently.
  • Website Rebuilds: Conducted internal and external research to redesign each subsidiary site. This included revamping site designs, sitemaps, and page structures, and integrating them into the new platform.

Results

The launch of the new sites on the unified network significantly reduced costs by eliminating expensive hosting solutions and mitigated risks associated with outdated technologies. The consolidation also greatly improved the user experience across subsidiary sites, making system management more seamless and secure.
